My Staff Savingram No.563 dated 22nd November, 1949. Entry points into gazetted Police Officers scale of Officers promoted from non-gazetted ranks.
I should be grateful for further information regarding the dates of promotion to Assistant Superintendent of Police in Palestine of Mr. W. Segrue and Mr. T.E. Clunie. In the biographical note on Mr. Segrue forwarded with your Staff Despatch No.95 dated 10th July, 1948, his date of appointment as Assistant Superintendent was given as 20.4.46. However, in the statement of aggregate pensionable emoluments F. forwarded by your staff savingram No.20 dated 20.1.49, the
date on which Mr. Segrue was appointed as Assistant Superintendent of Police was given as 1.4.47. Similarly, in your Staff Despatch f. No.13 dated 23.1.48, it is stated that Mr. Clunie was given credit
ff
in the Palestine scale for commissioned service as from the 20.4.46, but in the statement of aggregate pensionable emoluments forwarded by your Staff Savingram No.369 dated 9th November, 1949, the date of appointment as Assistant Superintendent of Police is given as 1.4.47, which date is confirmed in your Staff Savingram No.326 dated 12.10.49.
2.
Both Mr. Segrue and Mr. Clunie state that they were promoted to Assistant Superintendents of Police in the Police Mobile Force with effect from 20th April, 1946, and drew the pay of commissioned officers from that date.
3.
I should be grateful if you would confirm that these statements are correct.
